hi, I’m Jess! I’m a master’s student in Biology at the Freie Universität Berlin,
and I write about science, culture, and art. I’m mostly interested in:
- representations of nature across scales through painting and microscopy;
- biology, ideology, pop culture, and politics;
- and literary & speculative fiction, film, and visual culture.

previously, I studied neuronal metabolism as a postgraduate associate at Yale University,
founded SciCHAI (a science + arts journal club at the Wu Tsai Institute),
and spent some time teaching science to kids. (CV)
currently working on:
- abstract cellular short film;
- a zine about the digital camera and the biological eye;
- and lots of image processing.
