Hi, I’m Jess! I’m a scientist and artist based in Toronto. I’m interested in representing nature across scales through the mediums of abstract painting and microscopy.
I’m also interested in writing about the intersections and interactions of nature, science, art, and culture.
Recently, as a Postgraduate Associate in the Yale University Department of Neuroscience, I studied neuronal metabolism in the model nematode C. elegans and founded SciCHAI, a science + arts journal club at Yale’s Wu Tsai Institute. I also teach science to kids!
See the gallery for my mixed-media sketches and microscopic images, and my CV for more info. More current projects coming soon!
